Vote Richard Hovey Your Independent Candidate for Elworth
I was brought up and educated in Sandbach, and have recently returned to live in Wheelock as the third generation to own the family home next to the family business.
Having never been a member of a political party, I served on Sandbach Town Council as an INDEPENDENT Councillor between 2016 and 2023 and had the great honour of serving as the Mayor of Sandbach in 2018 and the Deputy Mayor in 2022/2023. I have also chaired the Planning and Consultation Committee.
Prior to becoming a Sandbach Councillor I was also a member and Chairman of Haslington Parish Council for many years.
As a Sandbach Town Councillor I was involved with:
Writing the original Sandbach Town Council objection to the Cheshire East policy that would have closed Sandbach Cemetery.
Represented the Town Council and residents at Cheshire East Planning Committee meetings.
Was an active member of the working group that produced the revised Sandbach Neighbourhood Plan in use since March 2022.
In addition to my role as a Councillor, I also provided land alongside the Arclid Brook in Wheelock for the Sandbach Woodland & Wildlife Group allowing them to plant more than 100 trees.

Sandbach Rotary Club | President on 3 occasions. My father was also President and my grandfather served as the founding President in 1945
I also have strong links with Friends of Sandbach Station, Sandbach Woodland and Wildlife Group and Sandbach Walking Group having previously led a history walk on their behalf.
I still remain the Vice Chair of the Royal British Legion - Haslington and Crewe Green Branch - and for the last 20 years have been their Poppy Appeal Organiser which also involved storing and distributing the poppies each year.
A vote for me on 12 December 2024 would give you an INDEPENDENT VOICE so that Your Voice is heard within Sandbach Town Council.
